E-Scrapbooking or Scrapbooking

E-Scrapbooking or Scrapbooking

Task:  To create a fictional e-scrapbook or scrapbook of a character that lived and experienced events of the 1960s and 1970s

Purpose:  To show understanding of how events between 1960 and 1980 affected Americans politically, economically, and socially

Activity:

Research Sources in the library catalog and major newspaper indexes to find conventional print sources with illustrations.  A handout of superior resources will be provided.
Create a Character that will react to several events of the 1970s.  In the scrapbook they will describe the events briefly and will give a reaction to it.  This may be done in a journal/diary form or as letters to a friend.
Prepare Your Scrapbook Pages  These can be PowerPoint slides or paper pages.  Each page will feature text and graphics.  Be sure to include copies of actual photographs from the 1970s.
Cite Your Sources (at least 3) on a separate page using MLA format.

     You must cover

       2 political events
     2 economic events
     2 social events
     1 science or technology event
     1 non-US event.

Journal entries or letters should by approximately 3 paragraphs long (two describing event and one giving a reaction to it).
Allowing for different styles, most students cover this in approximately 18 scrapbook pages or 13 slides of PowerPoint.
Create a table of contents for the front of the scrapbook identifying which articles are political, social, economic, etc.
